Owen Elphick is a writer, performer, and creator from Storrs, Connecticut, currently based in the Philadelphia area. He is the author of Thoughts & Prayers (Wilde Press, 2019), a book-length sequence of poems centered around gun violence in the United States. His writing has been published in or is forthcoming from The Hartford Courant, the Under Review, The Emerson Review, CORRIDORS, Gauge, Concrete, Stork, and The Berkeley Beacon, and anthologized in The Golden Thread Project by Kate Wilson (Levellers Press & Off the Common Books, 2018) and Chickadee Tales: A New Haven Bird Club Anthology (New Haven Bird Club, 2021). His plays have been workshopped and presented at the Eugene O'Neill Center's National Theater Institute, Emerson Stage’s NewFest New Works Festival, and the Connecticut Drama Association Festival.

Owen graduated from Emerson College with a BFA in Creative Writing. He represented Emerson at the 2018 National Collegiate Honors Conference and the 2019 Greater Boston Intercollegiate Undergraduate Poetry Festival. In 2020, he received Senior Writing Awards of High Distinction for both Poetry and Nonfiction, the EVVY Award for Outstanding Writing for Stage for his play Blend, and the EVVY Award for Outstanding Poetry for Imagining California, an unpublished manuscript. In high school, he was a 2015 Poetry Out Loud National Finalist and Connecticut State Champion, and a 2016 winner of the Hill-Stead Museum’s Fresh Voices Poetry Competition. His poems were published in the chapbook Fresh Voices 23 (Antrim House Press, 2016), and he read at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.

Owen is also a multi-EVVY-nominated actor, rapper, singer, and beatboxer. Recent acting credits include Elephant's Graveyard (RareWorks Theatre Company), Maggie Magalita (Kidding Around / Raíz Latinoamericana), and columbinus (Emerson College). He makes music under the name OE, and his first solo project, The OE EP, is available on all streaming platforms. A former member of the Emerson Treble Makers and the Hip Hop Society at Emerson College, he has appeared on the albums Chapter 1: Enter the Society and Society Shit, as well as the mixtape Society Summer and the three-song single Candy Bars.

Owen is a bookseller at the Narberth Bookshop and Main Point Books. He co-hosts the podcast Toon Tunes with Eliana Ulloa, where he discusses music from animated features. He enjoys organizing his books, taking long walks, discussing music, and swordfighting.
